Year 5’s Topic in the Spring term is World War Two, whilst the children have really enjoyed learning about this topic, they have also found elements of it harrowing, shocking and difficult to comprehend. They have approached the topic in a mature and sensible nature asking in depth and thought provoking questions. They have shown great care and empathy towards those people involved; in particular towards Anne Frank and the Jewish people. The have also considered the people living in this country and realised that as it didn’t happen very long ago some of their elder relatives may have memories from this period in history.
We also portrayed many of our findings in our class assembly, in which the children conducted themselves extremely well. Showing their ability to both retain information and share it in professional and/or dramatic ways.
