Mosque Visit

Today Year 4 went to visit our local Mosque. We learned about carrying out ablutions, called Wadu, which is the process of cleansing the body before prayers, Mrs. Abed’s uncle kindly allowed us to watch. We were taught the importance of facing Mecca to pray and that prayers happen five times a day, which is one of the five pillars of Islam and we touched on the subject of Haj, a pilgrimage to Mecca.

As it is currently Ramadam we talked in depth about giving to the poor, fasting and Eid Al-fitr the celebration that follows the month long fasting.

The children were very well behaved throughout our visit and we would like to thank Mrs. Abed for giving up her spare time and the members of the Mosque for allowing us to watch their prayers and explain more about the Islamic religion.
