During the Autumn term, year 6 will be covering the following topics:
Numeracy: Place value, ordering and rounding, multiplication and division, fractions, decimals and percentages and measure.
Literacy: Myths, explanatory texts and fables
Science: Micro-organisms: What micro-organisms are; how micro-organisms can be both helpful and harmful and how to prevent micro-organisms from spreading.
Electrical Circuits: Investigations into how to change circuits, standard symbols, conductors and insulators.
History: Ancient Greece
ICT: Using the internet to search large databases and to interpret information
PE: Football, Rounders and Swimming
Music: Composition
DT: Moving Greek monsters – pneumatics
RE: The Bible – why it is important to Christians and the different literary forms within it.
French: Fashion
PSHE: Rules, group work and ‘the ideal school’
The following homework will be given each week:
Literacy, Numeracy, Topic or Science and Reading. Spelling homework will also be given weekly, please encourage your children to read regularly and to play word games as this is beneficial to so many areas of the curriculum.
Each piece of work should take no longer than half an hour and your child should be able to complete this independently. If children regularly have difficulty with homework, please let me know.
