Harvest – words to learn
Here we are again- it’s that time of year, when I’m letting children know what songs they will be doing in the harvest celebration – date to be confirmed!
Ducklings – singing the choruses with the buddies – year 5 item, please see below
Year 1
The Earth is Yours O God
The earth is yours, o God
You nourish it with rain
The streams and rivers overflow
The land bears seed again
The soil is yours, o God
The shoots are moist with dew
And ripened by the burning sun
The corn grows straight and true
The whole rich land is yours
For fodder, or for plough
And so for rain sun soil and seed
O God we thank you now
Year 2
When God Made the Garden of Creation
When God made the garden of creation, He filled it full of his love
When God made the garden of creation, he saw that it was good
There’s room for you and room for me and room for everyone
For God is a father who loves his children and gives them a place in the sun
When God made the garden of creation, He filled it full of his love
When God made the family of creation, He made it out of his love
When God made the family of creation, He saw that it was good.
There’s love for you and love for you and love for everyone
But man is so selfish, ignores his neighbour and seeks his own place in the sun
When God made the family of creation, He made it out of his love
Repeat the first verse
Year 3
Autumn Days
Autumn days when the grass is jewelled
and the silk inside a chestnut shell
Jet planes meeting in the air to be refuelled,
All these things I love so well
Chorus
So I mustn’t forget, no I mustn’t forget
To say a great big thankyou, I mustn’t forget
Clouds that look like familiar faces
And a winter’s moon with frosted wings
Smell of bacon as I fasten up my laces
And the song the milkman sings
Whipped up spray that is rainbow scattered
And a swallow curving in the sky
Shoes so comfy , though they’re worn-out and they’re battered
And the taste of apple pie
Scent of gardens when the rain’s been falling
And a minnow darting down a stream
Picked-up engine that’s been stuttering and stalling
And a win for my home team
Year 4
Morning Sun
Morning sun, morning sun, lights the day that’s just begun
Helping ev’ryone to see how beautiful the world can be
Midday sun, midday sun , all the warmest light has come
Brightening out lives below, helping all the plants to grow
Setting sun, setting sun, when the day is nearly done
Moving all the light away, Till you rise another day
Shining sun, shining sun, bringing life to everyone,
Helping all the world to see you shine on us eternally
Year 5 and Ducklings
Lord of the Harvest
Choruses – Duckings and year5
Verses Year 5 only
Chorus
Lord of the harvest, Lord of the field
Give thanks now to God in nature revealed
Give thanks for the sun, the wind and the rain
And thanks for the crops that feed us again
The corn safely cut is gathered inside
We thank you o Lord that you can provide
The trees ripe with fruit stand proud in the sun,
We gather them now that summer is gone
For yours is the wonder, yours is the pow’r
Yours is the glory of fruit and of flow’r
So in all plenty, help us to see
The needs all around, whatever they be
With food for the body, strength for the soul
It’s healing and caring, making them whole
Year 6
Think of a World
Think of a world without any flowers, think of world without any trees
Think of a sky without any sunshine, think of the air without any breeze
We thank you Lord for flowers, trees and sunshine
We thank you Lord, and praise your holy name
Think of a world without any animals, think of a field without any herd
Think of a stream without any fishes, think of a dawn without any bird
We thank you Lord for all your living creatures
We thank you Lord, and praise your holy name
Think of a world without any people, think of a street with no one living there
Think of a town without any houses, no one to love and nobody to care
We thank you Lord for families and friendships
We thank you Lord and praise your holy name
