Spotlight on Evaporation

Class Five are learning about the Water Cycle this term and so we investigated the stage of ‘evaporation’ today. The weather kindly provided us with puddles so we drew around them and then checked on them every hour to see how much water there was remaining- as you can see they shrunk a lot, meaning the sun had heated the water, causing it to evaporate. We also set up our own evaporation experiments around the school- but then it rained again so we could not record how much water had evaporated! Oh well- an important part of experimenting is deciding what to do when the results aren’t what you would expect!
