As part of their work on Judaism Yr.6 have been looking at the Jewish festivals of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Today we had a super visitor come into Eagles her name was Helen Sharp. Helen is working with Folkestone Academy Radio. She showed some amazing photographs of butterfly wings, frogs, butterfly tongues, chrysalises and cocoons. We drew our own pictures and then she interviewed us for the Radio.
Today Mrs O’Callaghan’s English group performed poems. We really thought about rhymes, rhythms, alliteration, pauses for effect and actions. In Maths we have been revising 2D shapes, learning about open and closed shapes and beginning to learn about the perimeter of shapes as we discuss the length of shapes. To help us understand this we have been building shapes with decimetre sticks. We have even started to build “tricky” shapes that use more sticks than sides!
