Yr.6 Parent Letter

Dear Parent/Carer,

During the second half of the Autumn term, year 6 will be covering the following topics:

Numeracy:  Place value, ordering and rounding, multiplication and division, fractions, decimals and percentages and measure.

Literacy:    Journalistic writing, persuasive writing and conducting a study on an author.

Science:      Forces in Action: what forces are acting in different situations, how to increase/decrease forces and how to represent forces in diagrams

Dissolving: what substances dissolve and how to separate mixtures

Geography: Water

ICT:            Spreadsheets

PE:              Volleyball, Lacrosse and Swimming

Music:         Structures and Djembe Drumming

Art:             A Sense of Place

RE:             Confirmation, Baptism and the Christmas story

French:       Countries, location and directions.

PSHE:         How to deal with areas of conflict

 

The following homework will be given each week:

Literacy, Numeracy, Topic or Science and Spelling homework. Children should also be reading at home on a daily basis, their book should be travelling to and from school each day.

Each piece of work should take no longer than half an hour and your child should be able to complete this independently. If children regularly have difficulty with homework, please let me know.
