Disability Talk
Year six had a visit from Hannah and Donna this morning. They were from Centre for Independent Living Kent (CiLK). This is a charity and a Disabled Persons User Led Organisation (DPULO) run by disabled people for disabled people. Hannah and Donna talked to yr.6 about what it was like to be disabled, how it affects their day to day life and the obstacles which they come across. They also used drama, role play and discussion to help the children understand disability. Yr.6 had some excellent ideas and showed great empathy when thinking about how different actions would affect a disabled person. I think we will all treat people with more respect as a result of this visit.
