Mayor’s Carol Service

Yesterday Yr.6 went to the Mayor’s Carol Service.  Councillor Emily Arnold, gave a talk on family and how Christmas is about supporting one another.  Maisie and Christopher were involved in this talk.  We then, along with five hundred other Year Six children, sang carols and listened to Bible readings reminding us why we celebrate Christmas.  To welcome people to the service and as an item in the service Yr.6 played their Djembe drums.  They wrote an excellent song about Christmas which they performed as part of their routine.  This was ably led by Liliana, Madeline, Luca, Elijah, Grace, Isobella and Lorena.  Well done everyone, you represented us really well.

Here are the lyrics which they wrote;

Yes it is Christmas time

Jesus came, his light to shine,

Immanuel God with us,

In our lives, him we trust

Promised to Mary from above

Born in a stable out of love

Visited by shepherds from the hills

Hunted by Herod, Herod kills

Saviour of the world

Came for all the boys and girls

Our friend, our King, our everything

He is the reason that we sing

Merry Christmas one and all
