Science Club – Balloons

Due to popular demand and requests from School Council we are running a Science club this term. The first one had the theme of balloons. The children enjoyed creating static electricity which caused their balloon to stick to the wall and made a can move without touching it! They were also able to use their knowledge of how stretched a balloon was in different areas to make balloon kebabs without popping their balloons. They blew balloons up using the carbon dioxide produced in the chemical reaction between vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, made balloon hovercrafts and balloon rockets. Great fun was had by all with lots of scientific concepts being covered along the way.
