Visit From Folkestone People’s History Centre
As part of the project which is looking into the History of Folkestone before 1500 we were lucky enough to have some people visit us today. They told us all about what life was like before St Eanswythe, when Kent was a Kingdom all by itself. It was great fun and we learnt that in order to scare off invaders you had to to be frightening, we all got to try a scary routine which was very similar to a Maori Dance! We all really enjoyed it and it was great to learn about runes, an ancient alphabet and how we can write our names in this language. Everyone is invited to go to St Eanswythe’s and St Mary’s Church on Saturday 12th March where they will be showing people how to make really old Anglo Saxon jewellery, doing other crafts and telling stories. All for free!
