Our science topic this term is materials. Following on from last year when we learnt all about the properties of different materials; we are going to be learning about how those properties help different materials to do different jobs. The Eagles started this week by helping me with a dilemma. I introduced them to my cat Flo who, very clumsily, knocks over glasses of water onto my wooden table. The Eagles had to find out which was the best make of kitchen towel to use to stop the wood from getting ruined. They planned different experiments to do – some of which tested how quickly the kitchen towels absorbed water, and others tested the amount of water kitchen towels could hold. In case you have a similar problem we discovered that “Ultimate” could hold the most water, and Morrisons own absorbed the quickest (none of us rated Plenty!)
