Narrative Poetry

Year 6 are looking at poetry in Literacy.  They have identified different techniques used in poetry such as rhythm, rhyme, onomatopoeia, imagery, similes, metaphors and alliteration.  They split a narrative poem about a rabbit surviving being in a cement mixer into five sections and created freeze frames for each scene showing their understanding of the Continue reading

Dinosaurs!

This term the Ducklings’ topic is dinosaurs. We had a great start to our topic today with a drama workshop from KIC theatre. We learnt about different types of dinosaurs (carnivores and herbivores), we acted like pterodactyls and flew around the hall then we pretended to be fossil hunters.  

Kic Theatre – Owls

Today we were excited to attend another great drama workshop with Ian from Kic Theatre. As our topic is ‘Toys and Games’ we acted out some of the ways in which toys move and work. We discussed new and old toys and became jack in the boxes, yoyos, trains and even kites.

Soluble or Insoluble

One of our Science topics this term is reversible and irreversible reactions.  We started by combining substances with water and found that some substances were soluble and others insoluble.  However, this wasn’t the only change some substances changed the colour of the water and some reacted with the water creating a gas.
