Indoor fireworks and coke and mentos!

As a finale to our topic on reversible and irreversible reactions we used a range of indoor fireworks, some of them flashed, some caused a bang and others created flames of different colours.  All the reactions produced something new, they were therefore chemical and irreversible changes.  We then went into the playground and did an experiment involving mentos and different types of fizzy drink, we hypothesised which drink would create the largest fountain and then tested our predictions.  The reactions were explosive!
