Today in Science Yr 4 were filtering different solid substances after mixing them with water. We filtered soil, sand, salt and sugar to see if we could get it back out of the water and leave the water back as it started.
This morning Yr.6 started work on an art project that they are doing alongside a school in Calais. They have designed words and created sentences encapsulating how the two countries can work together and the importance of unity. Yesterday, eight pupils from St Eanswythe’s along with two from St Peter’s school were confirmed by Bishop Trevor. As part of our learning about World War Two, we went to The Imperial War Museum for the day. They have some wonderful displays of artefacts and eye-witness accounts of this time in history. We left a class message on the People’s Voices wall – our hope for peace for the future.
On Friday afternoon the Choir went to Pelham House to sing for the elderly people who live there. This week Ted and Mary from Shepway Sports Trust came in to school and ran workshops for all of KS 2 on American football. The children learned and improved their dodging, throwing and catching skills as well as studied some tactics and played mini games. Everyone had a great time and behaved well.
Yr.6 looked at filtering, firstly they separated sand and water using filter paper, they then tried to do the same with a salt water solution but found that the dissolved particles were so small they went through the miniscule holes in the filter paper.
