On Saturday Tiki qualified as a Pets as Therapy Dog. She also passed her silver Kennel Club Good Citizen Award. For these tests she had to play in a controlled way and release her toy when asked, walk to heel on a public highway, stopping at the kerb, wait when asked then rejoin her handler and walk to heel, get in and out of the car in a controlled manner, come away from other dogs when called, greet people without jumping up, sit quietly without begging whilst food was consumed in front of her and let the examiner look at her paws, teeth and ears without resisting. For the Pets as Therapy test she also had to prove she could remain calm in a range of situations and around other dogs, children and adults. She also had to be fine with loud noises. She passed both tests with flying colours and the children presented her with her certificate and rosette in worship this morning.
