Welcome back to Eagles and the second half of the Autumn Term.
Topic: Most of our History and Geography learning will be done through focusing on our Topic which is called ‘Great Women of the World’ and include women such as Mary Seacole, Florence Nightingale, Amelia Earhart and lots more.
Science: Children will be researching living things and their habitats to include food chains and designing a bug hotel!
Maths: We will be looking at different units of measure; cm/mm, l/ml, kg/grams. Telling the time to a quarter to and past the hour and by recapping our knowledge of 2D and 3D shape we will explore their properties learning about right angles.
Literacy: In Literacy we will continue to use Read Write Inc with daily speed sound work, with the emphasis on quick recognition and correct pronunciation which will help all children with their reading and spelling. We will also be expanding our writing skills to include how to compose; Information Texts, Recounts and Diary writing.
RE: Our focus this term will be on Incarnation leading up to a big question; Why does Christmas Matter?
Computing: We will be looking at how to make our pictures into short animations and stories.
PSHE: Our topic of conversation will be about getting on and falling out.
PE: We will be concentrating on a variety of ball skills including netball.
Homework: Homework grids will be sent out in a book each term. Children choose an activity from the grid each week to take on as their homework. Spelling will be sent home on a Friday to be learnt for the following Friday.
If you wish your child to have milk every day an order form is available from the office and as usual a final plea to please label all uniform clearly. PE is on a Monday and Friday the children must have kit in schools on these days.
