Owls and Eagles have been thinking very deeply about Harvest festival and what it means to Christians on a global and a personal level.
We looked at how Harvest is celebrated in different cultures around the world and discussed the similarities. We found that all Harvest festivals celebrate the richness of the Earth’s food, the importance of sharing our good fortune with others and working together as a team to make sure everyone is ready for the winter.
We learnt that on both a community and personal level it is time to give thanks for all that we have and to look forward to sharing our blessings with others.
The children created their own 3D Harvest Cards which showed the things that are important to everyone as a community celebrating a Harvest festival, and then inside they wrote all the things they could think of that they personally were grateful for.
