Forces in water

Yr.6 investigated why some things float and some things sink. They found that water pushes up against objects with a force called up thrust. They weighed objects using Newton metres in air and in water and found that things appear to weigh less in water due to the force of upthrust.

Separating Mixtures

This week Yr.6 worked to separate mixtures using filter paper. They found that you could separate sand and water very successfully. However when they tried to separate a salt water solution it didn’t work as the salt had dissolved.
