Year 5 – Autumn Term 1

Dear Parent/Carer,

During the Autumn term, year 5 will be covering the following topics:

Numeracy:  Place value, ordering and rounding, multiplication and division, fractions, decimals and percentages and measure.

Literacy:    ‘Street Child’ by Berlie Doherty, biographies and reading comprehension techniques

Science:      Sound

History:      Victorians

ICT:             Research, coding

DT:             Moving toys (Victorians)

Music:       Djembes; Creating rhythmic pattern.

RE:             God

French:     Speaking about myself

PSHE:        New Beginnings and mindfulness

This term a homework choice grid will be sent home, one piece of homework from the grid must be completed each week. Spellings focused on a specific pattern or rule will also be sent home to learn each week.

Reading and simply enjoying books at home with your child will also further their development as will helping them learn their times tables.
