Black History Month

In worship this week, we have been thinking about perseverance and resilience.  As it is also black history month Yr.6 looked at some of the amazing people who have stood up for the rights of black people throughout history. We decided that all of these people showed amazing perseverance and resilience in spite of persecution. We looked at Ghandi, Mary Seacole, Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandela, Walter Tull and Martin Luther King. We ended the week by thinking about our own dreams for the future – the children had some amazing dreams. These included a world without wars, an end to racism, a world without pollution, a world where people were kind to each other and a world where everyone is accepted for who they are. These dreams are amazing and certainly would make our world a better place. We looked through the Bible at examples where Jesus encouraged us to persevere, to treat all people with respect and to care for each other!
