Kensuke’s Kingdom Canvas Pictures

Yr.6 painted canvases today using acrylic paints. They chose to either paint Stella, the border collie, who belonged to the main character, Michael or the orangutans from Kensuke’s Kingdom. As you can see we have some very talented artists in Yr.6 and the canvases look lovely displayed in our classroom.

Social Club A- Week 4

This week in Social club we have enjoyed playing basketball outside. We have also been gardening in the school playground. The children made Christmas tree decorations out of clay. On Wednesday we had spaghetti Bolognese for dinner. There were many messy faces after this yummy meal!

Battle on TTRockstars

Two halves of Year 4 enjoyed another times table battle this week. It was good to see so many of the children joining in. 6B were in the lead for quite a while and then 6A overtook and ended up winning the battle. Congratulations to all the players and well done to 6A.

Eagles become Medics!

In Topic this term we have started to look at famous women of the world. We have learnt about Mary Seacole, Florence Nightingale, Edith Cavell and Jennifer Worth and the amazing things that they have achieved in their lifetimes. We had fun role-playing hospitals and bandaging each other!

Owls make Slime

Our science topic this term has been materials. Owls have been making slime using cornflour and water. It makes a liquid slime that appears to become solid when you put pressure on it. We had lots of fun exploring this strange liquid!

Kensuke’s Kingdom

Yr.6 have been studying the book ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’ by Michael Morpurgo.  As part of their work on the book they have made swimming jellyfish in a bottle and painted shells with ink just as Michael was taught to do by Kensuke. It was quite tricky but they produced some excellent artwork.

Forces in Yr.6

They designed a vehicle using Knex.  They then tested these vehicles using different surfaces on the ramps.  They found that friction was reduced if the surfaces were smoother.  Each group then entered their vehicle into a competition to see whose could travel the furthest. 2.Yr.6 were Continue reading
