Eagle’s Spring Term 1

Dear Parent/Carer

Happy New Year!

Topic: Most of our learning will be done through focusing on our Topic which this term is ‘The Great Fire of London’.

Science: ‘Materials’ is the theme of this term’s Science, re-capping on what we have learnt in year 1 and investigating in further depth as to how different materials do their job.

Maths: We will be looking at fractions to include quarters, halves and thirds, telling the time to 5 minute intervals, multiplication and division, which includes the 2, 5, 10 and 3 times table and returning to addition and subtraction problem solving.

Literacy: In Literacy we will continue to use Read Write Inc with daily speed sound work aiding spelling and spelling choices. As our topic has a range of activities, literacy will be mostly based on The Great Fire of London.

RE: Our focus this term will be on Gospel leading up to a big question; What is the good news that Jesus brings?

Computing: We will start to look at coding and the meaning of coding, building up to writing some algorithms of our own to direct a bee-bot around the room.

PSHE: Our topic of conversation will be about going for goals and how we achieve them through perseverance.

PE: This term’s theme is Dance. We will be looking at how to move and react to different types of music and is based on our Topic.

Homework: Homework grids will be sent out in a book each term. Children choose an activity from the grid each week to take on as their homework. Spelling will be sent home on a Friday to be learnt for the following Friday.

 REMINDERS:

If you wish your child to have milk every day an order form is available from the office and as a final plea please label all uniform clearly. PE is on a Monday and Friday the children must have kit in schools on these days.

If there are any questions or queries please do not hesitate to ask.

Yours faithfully

Mrs Edgar
