On Monday Owls class had a lovely day making Hot Cross Buns. In groups we weighed and measured all of the ingredients using the recipe on the board, then we mixed it all together in the right order. We had to be really patient as the dough had to prove and rise several times before we finally shaped the buns and added the crosses before baking them. Finally all our hard work paid off and we got to eat them and they were delicious!
While we were waiting for the dough to rise we had a blind taste test of lots of different flavours of hot cross bun and had to decide what the main flavours were. We learnt an interesting superstition about hot cross buns, that if you bake them on Good Friday then they will not go mouldy or spoil for an entire year.
We all had lots of fun baking.
