There’s a hole in my cup!

Today we had great fun exploring the properties of different materials. ‘Someone’ had made a small hole in our plastic cups and the children needed to try a variety of materials to see if any of them would cover the hole. The materials the children could use were, clay, paper, tissues, play-doh or netting. The children each made a prediction and then, in groups, tried to use a material to cover the hole. Some children chose to ‘add’ cello tape to their constructions to help with the covering. We then went into the playground and tested the different materials. Overall, we were surprised with how well regular paper lasted and disappointed with the clay. We are now testing what would happen if we left the clay to harden. Well done everyone.
