Paddington Illustrations
On Friday, during our Art session, Year 4 have been studying Paddington illustrations.
Last week we began by looking at all of the different illustrators that have had the priviledge of illustrating the famous bear. We looked at the different styles and techniques used and how they have changed over the years. This week we learnt more about the works of Peggy Fortnum, the first illustrator of Paddington. Peggy’s illustrations were created using pen and ink, leaving Paddington in black and white. This week we learnt how to effectively use tracing paper to transfer one of Peggy’s illustrations on to cartridge paper. We then, for the first time, used a drawing pen to refine our Paddington illustrations and add further detail. The results are stunning and very characteristic of Peggy Fortnum’s, well done Year 4.
