Year 1’s Plant Pots
Over the past few weeks in DT, Owls have been planning, sculpting and decorating their own plant pots. First they used a computer program to digitally plan their plant pot design and then had a go at planning it using pastels. Following that they began sculpting their clay into a plant pot by rolling it into a ball and then using a pinching technique to create the edge of the pot. Some of the children decided to use pencils to add texture to their pots. Once their pots had dried and hardened, they used paints to decorate their pots, they look very bright and colourful now! Finally they covered their pot with PVA to glaze it and turn it into a water resistant and functional plant pot.
Yesterday, the children planted cress seeds in their pots by sprinkling them onto a bed of damp cotton wool.
