Dear Parent/ Carer,
This term is going to be a fun filled final term for Year 6! We have lots of trips coming up including our residential 17-19th June. If you have any questions in relation to this, please do not hesitate to ask me!
In Literacy we will be reading the book ‘Wonder’ by R.J Palacio. We will be exploring the themes and messages in this book and thinking about how we can use these messages in the transition to secondary school.
Numeracy this term will be recapping previous topics taught making sure the children have a secure understanding. This will include: decimals, fractions and percentages. We will also be focusing on problem solving skills and working co-operatively to solve them.
Our science topic is ‘Living things and their habitats’, which is carried over from last term due to SATs. We will also be looking at ‘Animals including Humans’.
Our RE topic this term is Humanism. We will be exploring the core beliefs of a humanist and compare this to other religions we have covered.
Our topic is The Vikings. We will be looking at the Viking civilization, how and where it started and features of daily life for a Viking.
PE this term will be rounders and kwik cricket. We have planned some PE afternoons at Radnor Park where there is more space. Please ensure your child has a full PE kit and trainers in school at all times.
Homework- Your child will be expected to complete at least one piece of homework from a homework grid each week, this is due in every Monday, starting next week. Weekly spellings will be uploaded on google classroom and a spelling menu activity is to be completed once a week. As always, the grid is just a guide. If your child has a desire to create something that isnt noted, please encourage this. We love seeing creativity!
Notes- Please ensure your child has a full PE kit in school at all times. Trainers may be worn for PE but ideally black/navy.
If your child is completing homework electronically, please encourage them to use Google Classroom to upload this. It is a great way of being able to share their fabulous homework with the whole class.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask me.
Thank you for your continued support as always.
