DT Textiles – Sewing

This term in year 3 we are getting to grips with cross stitch, running stitch and appliqué to create our very own cushions. We have started by learning how to cross stitch and this was a lesson in need of plenty of patience, perseverance and concentration. With plenty of support the children have been trialing different techniques for keeping the needle on the thread and re-threading the needle when needed. Once the needle was secure everyone focused on following the instructions for creating a neat cross stitch. They then repeated this many times to build in accuracy and confidence. The end results were a classroom full of proud smiles and plenty of cross stitches to show. A massive thank you to all the parents and grandparents who have been teaching their children and grandchildren to sew, there are some fabulous sewers in the making who have been absolute super stars today helping their peers.
