Eagles Visit Folkestone Museum

On Thursday afternoon Year 2 were lucky enough to have a workshop in Folkestone Museum on The Victorians. We learnt all about the arrival of the railway in Folkestone in the 1840s and how it led to a boom in tourism, marking the beginning of the town as a fashionable seaside resort. We explored the Victorian craze for sea-bathing, what Victorians did on their holidays and how the town grew to accommodate the incomers.

We had a wonderful time, the children were able to examine original artefacts, documents and images. We are hoping to go back again soon.
