Parent Letter Term 3 Year 6

Dear Parent/Carer

Welcome back, Happy New Year to you all. I hope you have had a great Christmas and are ready for what 2023 has to offer us!

 Topic: This term we will be going back in time to visit the ancient civilisation of The Shang Dynasty.

Science: The science topic for this term is Animals and their Habitats.

Maths: We will be focusing this term on Ratio, Decimals and Algebra.

Literacy: In Literacy we will be looking at Poetry, Biographies and Autobiographies and attempting to write our own autobiography.

Whole Class Reading: This term we will be reading The Firework-Makers Daughter by Philip Pullman.

RE: Our focus this term is Islam. We will be looking at and discussing the big question of ‘What does it mean to be a Muslim in Britain today?’

PSHE: Our topic of conversation will be ‘Positive Thinking’.

Art & DT: We will be looking at the Japanese artist Hokusai and the style of art called ‘Ukiyo-e’.

PE: This term our PE lessons will be on Thursdays and Fridays. We will be concentrating on Dance and Netball.

Computing: We will be having fun with Text Adventures.

Homework: Homework grids will be sent out each term and also put on to Google Classroom. Children choose an activity from the grid each week to take on as their homework. Additional homework will be given to children where necessary.

Google Classroom: All homework and weekly spellings will be put on to the Google classroom for Year 6. Any updates or stand-alone lessons that are needed for home learning will be uploaded for individuals when needed.

REMINDERS:

PE is on a Thursday and Friday but children must have a named PE kit in school at all times please as we also have workshops going on throughout the term.
