BRP

The Better Reading Partnership (BRP) is a time-limited, one-to-one intervention that is designed to develop reading skills and enable learners to read with confidence, understanding and enjoyment. It is a comparatively short-term intervention with an emphasis on developing learners’ independence as readers. In St Eanswythe’s CE Primary School it is used with children in Yr.s 2-6 who need additional support with their reading.

The BRP intervention involves structured one-to-one sessions based around a common lesson structure and delivered by an experienced teacher trained to deliver BRP. Learners are introduced to a wide variety of genres in both fiction and non-fiction, in the interests of finding texts that they enjoy and to develop their understanding and widen their horizons.

Children will receive three, fifteen minute sessions a week.
