Online Safeguarding
E-Safety is an important part of keeping children safe at St Eanswythe’s Church of England School. We have extensive security measures in place in school, which are monitored regularly, to help safeguard pupils from potential dangers or unsuitable material.
E-Safety is taught to all pupils explaining and demonstrating how to stay safe and behave appropriately online. Staying safe online is discussed in every Computing lesson.
We can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with parents to ensure the e-Safety message is consistent. It is important that parents speak to their children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online.
It’s essential to be realistic – banning the internet or technology will not work and it often makes a child less likely to report a problem. Education around safe use is essential.

Useful website including information on ‘locking down’/restricting features on smartphones, PCs and games consoles.
The VSC provides a wealth of information and tips about family and safe gaming. It also gives information about the ‘PEGI Ratings’ used for gaming.
Ask About Games (AAG) is an information site that answers gaming questions and offers advice and information on how to play games (off and online) safely and responsibly.
A number of guides giving information to children and parents about staying safe online.
A website providing guides to a range of specific apps and games likely to be used by children. Tips for working with children to understand risks are also included.
Site produced by O2 and NSPCC, is a guide for parents to 39 of the most popular sites, apps and games that young people use. Using reviews from adults and children, it helps parents decide if a site is right for their child.
