Dino Fun

During our COOL Time, Ducklings Class have been busy exploring a range of exciting dinosaur-themed activities designed to spark curiosity and a real love of learning! The children were thrilled to discover mysterious dinosaur eggs hidden in the TUFF spot, they were so old they had turned rock hard! This led to lots of problem-solving as the children worked out different ways to crack them open, developing their Physical Development skills and perseverance. Their excitement grew even more when they discovered baby dinosaurs inside!

The fun continued when the TUFF spot was transformed into a sandy fossil lab. The children took turns pressing dinosaur figures into the sand and carefully filled the imprints with plaster of Paris to create their very own fossils. This activity supported Understanding the World, as they explored how fossils are formed, alongside Communication and Language through rich discussions and new vocabulary. It also encouraged Personal, Social and Emotional Development as they shared resources and took turns.

To bring their learning to life even further, the children loved transforming themselves into dinosaurs by designing and creating their own masks. This creative activity linked beautifully to Expressive Arts and Design, while also supporting fine motor skills within Physical Development. It’s been wonderful to see so much hands-on exploration, imagination, and joy woven through their learning!

We have also included some photos of when our school dog Cooper came for some fun. It is always a happy time when Cooper comes to visit!
