Children starting secondary school in September 2027 will take the Kent Test in September 2026 if they wish to be considered for a Kent grammar school.
 

Key Dates 

• June 2026 – Kent Test registration opens

• July 2026 – Registration closes (late applications are not normally accepted)

• September 2026 – Kent Test takes place

• October 2026 – Parents receive results

If you are considering a grammar school for your child, you must register for the Kent Test for them to be considered for a selective school place.

Shepway Test
The Shepway Test is an additional opportunity for pupils to demonstrate selective ability and is organised by the following schools:

• The Harvey Grammar School 

• The Folkestone School for Girls

The Shepway Test registration form will be available on the Folkestone School for Girls website from June until mid-July.
