Our Ducklings class had an unforgettable day out at the award-winning Drusillas Park! Known for making wild memories, Drusillas offers a loving home to over one hundred exotic animals, including sloths and penguins. But the fun doesn't stop with the animals – Drusillas also features an array of exciting attractions and activities.
We began our adventure by boarding the coach and heading from school to Drusillas. Although it was a long journey, the children behaved wonderfully, chatting nicely with each other along the way. Upon arrival, we headed to the picnic area for a snack and to drop off our bags before splitting into groups to explore.
First, we visited some of the exotic animals and had our very own animal encounter experience. The children were thrilled to see, learn about and touch a Madagascan hissing cockroach, ball python, rat and bearded dragon. They were so brave and curious, getting up close to these fascinating creatures.
After our animal encounter, we enjoyed our packed lunches and then continued our exploration. The children were excited to experience the many attractions and rides Drusillas has to offer. Some groups headed straight for the Rainforest Adventure, where they rode the Jungle Jeeps, dodging the spitting anaconda, and spun around on the Toucan Twister. Others opted for a ride on the Amazon Skyrise, getting a bird’s eye view of the park.
The fun didn’t stop there! Many children loved splashing about on the Get Wet! splash pad, especially on such a sunny day. Some of the more adventurous Ducklings took on the Hippopotobus, the Flying Cheetahs and the Rainforest Carousel. The large adventure play areas were a big hit as well, with the children swinging, jumping and climbing to their hearts' content. Mungo’s Maze provided an exciting challenge as they navigated their way through its twists and turns.
When everyone needed a break from all the running around, we took a relaxing journey deep into the heart of the zoo on the Safari Express train. It was a perfect way to unwind and enjoy the sights and sounds of Drusillas Park.
As the day came to an end, we met back up to collect our bags and then headed to the coach for the ride home. Most of the children, tired out from their adventures, went off to sleep or caught up on the day's fun with their friends.
Well done Ducklings for such a fabulous day out and impeccable behaviour throughout!
