Last week, our Ducklings enjoyed a very exciting sports morning as we headed across to the Three Hills to join the Play Leaders from Turner Free School. The children had the opportunity to explore 14 different activity stations, each carefully designed to get them moving, active and having lots of fun.
Throughout the morning, the children developed their gross motor skills as they practised bouncing and catching balls, stacking speed cups, running and jumping and dribbling and rolling equipment. These activities strongly support Physical Development within the EYFS, helping children to build strength, coordination, balance and confidence in their movements.
The children also demonstrated excellent listening and attention skills, linking to Communication and Language, as they listened carefully to instructions from the Play Leaders and followed them successfully at each station. We were incredibly proud of how well the Ducklings behaved, showing focus, enthusiasm and resilience as they moved between activities.
Sports mornings like this also support Personal, Social and Emotional Development, as the children took turns, encouraged one another and showed positive attitudes towards trying new challenges. It was a joy to see their confidence grow throughout the session.
Well done Ducklings, what a fantastic morning of learning through movement!
