This week we celebrated Black History Month. It was an opportunity to share, celebrate and understand the impact of black heritage and culture. The day began with a live zoom between us and Nouvel Community School in Ghana during whole school worship where the two schools had the opportunity to speak to each other. We also enjoyed a brilliant storytelling session with Caleb and Chloe’s dad, William, who told us a folklore tale about Anansi the spider.
Kevin, who is in the local group Gumboots Reggae Band,..... led a fantastic drumming workshop which was enjoyed by all classes. The children had a djembe drum each and they took part in a brilliant drumming session. We all tried some very delicious food which had been prepared by the wonderful set of parents. We are so lucky to have such a great set of parents willing to give up their time to teach the children about their culture. A great day - thank you to those families involved.
