Illuminated Letters

These past few weeks we have been learning about the illuminated letters in the Lindisfarne Gospels. We spoke about the patterns being similar to the Anglo-Saxon shoulder clasps with the interlacing and interlocking lines. The children decorated their own initials using patterns and pictures to replicate those that we had studied. They then finished this project today by using watercolours to add colour. Well done Year 3, these all look fab!
