Year 3 British Museum visit
Last Thursday Year 3 went to the British Museum to take a better look at what life was like in Ancient Egyptian times. Even though it was very busy we did get to see everything in both rooms. It was extra special as we are currently reading The Ancient Egyptian Sleepover by Stephen Davies who has set this story in the actual museum itself and we were all guessing which parts of the room they slept in by recalling the story. There is also alot of reference to many of the artif

Mixed Media Art
This term in Year 3, the children have been exploring mixed media in their art lessons and have produced some truly wonderful and imaginative pieces. They have been learning how artists can combine art and craft by bringing together painting and sewing, and how using different materials such as paint and thread allows us to take advantage of their unique qualities to build an image. The class have also discovered that skills can transfer across media, for example using mark m

The Ancient Egyptians
Last week our history lesson was all about mummification and what they used to do when a Pharoah died. We learnt all kinds of fairly gruesome things! But very interesting that they were treated with the utmost care and attention to detail. Some of their organs were stored in canopic jars and were placed in the tomb. Astor Dance Performance
Today twenty children from James’ Dance Club went to Astor School in Dover to participate in a multi school dance festival. Every one of our girls performed confidently with great stage presence. Thank you to all the parents for providing costumes and for offering help with transport. The children behaved extremely well and were a credit to the school. They should all be very proud of themselves. Thanks James for all your hard work.

WBD Hat Competition
Last week, to celebrate World Book Day, sixty of our children took part in our Hat Competition. It was wonderful to see how much care, time and creativity had gone into each and every hat. The entries showed fantastic effort from the children, with each one designing a unique hat inspired by a favourite story or book character. Today we announced the winners and took time during our celebration worship to recognise and celebrate every single hat. The display was truly breath-

Reading Escape Room
On World Book Day we were so lucky to take part in a Reading Escape Room! Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 pupils had to escape Crow Castle by working in teams and taking a journey through the rooms via the magic of books. From MacBeth to Charles Dickens, Frankenstein and Sherlock Holmes, the children had to turn detective and search for clues. They had to read, infer, comprehend, spell, scan, skim and riddle their way to freedom, or face the Crow Queen and be trapped in Crow Castle. Duck

Flying Birds
Year 3 have finally finished their fantastic flying birds and we could not be prouder of them. They worked incredibly hard on this project last term and their perseverance has truly paid off. We began by carefully studying photographs of British garden birds, looking closely at colours, shapes and features. The children then designed their own special bird for a Minpin to ride on, taking inspiration from the beautiful illustrations in Roald Dahl’s The Minpins. Their sketchboo
