Set Designs

Last term, in Year 5, students explored the fascinating world of set design. They learnt that designers create sets to form the backdrop and props that provide context for drama in theatre, film or animation. The children used a range of different media, including painting, drawing and making, to bring their sets to life. They learned to think about crucial elements such as lighting, scale, perspective and composition to ensure their designs were both visually engaging and functional. By experimenting with various artistic disciplines, the students gained a deeper understanding of how set designers work behind the scenes to enhance storytelling, creating environments that support the action and help set the mood for different types of performances.
