The Gingerbread Man

In Ducklings we have been learning all about the story 'The Gingerbread Man'. We were first introduced to the tale when a sneaky gingerbread man came to visit our classroom and left us clues to find. Using our school’s Talk for Writing approach, we learnt the story and used actions to help us remember the order of events.

As our confidence grew, we began to innovate the story by changing the animals the Gingerbread Man met along his journey. We have been busy drawing story maps and working hard to write labels for the animals, such as cat, dog and pig.

Finally, last week we performed our new versions of the story! We split into four groups and chose which animals our Gingerbread Man would meet. We had cows, unicorns and even a shark! The most sought-after role was, of course, the Gingerbread Man, and every child who played the part did magnificently.

Each group performed their story retelling, and what a fun morning it was! Ducklings class certainly has some budding actor talent!
