Wheelchair Basketball Year 5

This term Year 5 are lucky enough to take part in wheelchair basketball with some fantastic coaches who run Folkestone Arrows Wheelchair Basketball team.

First, the children practised getting in and out of the wheelchair safely as well as moving it around. I was very impressed with how quickly they picked this up.

They moved onto a game involving the bibs, whereby the children had to take the bibs off other children. This was quickly replaced by a basketball.

They quickly moved on to passing and shooting and again, myself and the coaches were very impressed with how brilliant the children were.

The session ended with a quick question and answer session. The children asked sensible and respectful questions about the coaches disabilities, inspirations and love for wheelchair basketball.

The behaviour was absolutely fantastic and this was mentioned by the coaches. We are very excited to see how their skills progress throughout the term.
