DT Playgrounds in Year 6
This week, Year 6 have had lots of fun designing and making their very own playgrounds. They thought carefully about what they like about playgrounds they have visited and decided on a theme for their own. They had to include: something to hide in or under, something to climb, something that moves and of course it had to be fun and aesthetically pleasing! The children used their knowledge of building 'A frames' including the triangulation method to add strength to the struct

D&T Day in Owls Class - Making Smoothies ππ
Year 1 had an amazing day making their own fruit smoothies! They started by learning how fruits grow and how flowers turn into tasty fruits. π±π Next, the children became smoothie designers, choosing their favourite fruits, using a class word bank, writing ingredient lists and creating bright, colourful labels for their cups. After learning about knife safety and chopping their fruit carefully, each child added their ingredients to a blender to make their very own smoothie.

To start, the children got the opportunity to draw their own ideas down, which showed lots of fascinating designs. Then, in groups, the children got the opportunity to create their own marble

Vegetable Soup
Last week, as part of our preparations for making our own delicious soup, the children had the opportunity to taste an example. They began by looking closely at the soup and smelling it, talking about what they noticed. If they felt happy and confident, they were then invited to taste it. We were so proud of how brave many of the children were, especially those who werenβt sure if they would like it. Only a few chose not to taste, and lots of the children even went back for m

Rocket Crafting
Yesterday afternoon, the children in Ducklings' Class were thrilled to welcome their grown-ups for a fun-filled rocket-making session. Together, children and adults followed step-by-step instructions from a visual task board, which included helpful picture symbols to support understanding. The room was full of excitement as everyone worked together to design and build their own rockets. This creative activity was not only enjoyable but also a wonderful opportunity to focus on
