The Gingerbread Man
In Ducklings we have been learning all about the story 'The Gingerbread Man'. We were first introduced to the tale when a sneaky gingerbread man came to visit our classroom and left us clues to find. Using our school’s Talk for Writing approach, we learnt the story and used actions to help us remember the order of events. As our confidence grew, we began to innovate the story by changing the animals the Gingerbread Man met along his journey. We have been busy drawing story ma

The Stone Age in Year 3
To start both our Literacy and History topic this term, we started with a fun introduction to it by building our own caves! Road Safety Years 3 and 4
On Wednesday we had a visit from Ian at Kent Road Safety, who came in to remind us about how important it is to keep ourselves safe when crossing the roads. We talked about how we really need to be extra vigilant nowadays as many of the cars are electric and silent! We also found out that pelican crossings are all going to be changed to puffin crossings here in our region. Friendship Ties!
In Year Six this week, we have been exploring the importance of friendships and healthy relationships. We thought carefully about what makes a good friend and how we can support and care for one another. We used actual string as a visual representation to show the positive friendship links between us all, helping us see how everyone is connected through kindness and support. The strings certainly helped us to 'tie up' our knowledge in a fun and creative way!

The children then thought about the meaning behind this parable and applied it to their

Year 5 and 6 attend The Book Festival!
This week, Year 5 and 6 took a trip down to The Quarterhouse for an author workshop. The book was Dragonborn written by Struan Murray. He explained how a lot of his ideas for his novels come from small doodles and a big imagination! The session ended with the children taking part in a 'What type of dragon are you?' quiz and they created a dragon to reflect their results. It was a very inspiring session and the children participated and listened beautifully.

Chocolate Maths in Year 6
Year 6 have worked extremely hard this week on their first unit of fractions. We have been adding and subtracting mixed numbers, converting improper fractions to mixed numbers and finding the common denominator. They can also confidently find fractions of amounts. To demonstrate this knowledge, they were given chocolate! They successfully found 1/2, 1/4 and 1/3 of a given amount and naturally, the chocolate was devoured during and after the lesson. Thank you for all your hard

Rocket Crafting
Yesterday afternoon, the children in Ducklings' Class were thrilled to welcome their grown-ups for a fun-filled rocket-making session. Together, children and adults followed step-by-step instructions from a visual task board, which included helpful picture symbols to support understanding. The room was full of excitement as everyone worked together to design and build their own rockets. This creative activity was not only enjoyable but also a wonderful opportunity to focus on
