What a fantastic World Book Day we have had! We walked up to WH Smith with our buddies and carefully selected a book. The variety was very good and they each chose something that they are very excited to read. We came back to school and shared our new books. It was so nice to be able to spend time with our buddies again!

On World Book Day we were so lucky to take part in a Reading Escape Room!  Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 pupils had to escape Crow Castle by working in teams and taking a journey through the rooms via the magic of books. From MacBeth to Charles Dickens, Frankenstein and Sherlock Holmes, the children had to turn detective and search for clues. They had to read, infer, comprehend, spell, scan, skim and riddle their way to freedom, or face the Crow Queen and be trapped in Crow Castle. Duck

Our Eucharist service in church this week was led by our worship leaders carrying the cross, with Years 4, 5, and 6 taking part. Pupils who have been confirmed were able to receive Holy Communion. Throughout the service, all pupils showed good behaviour and respect, reflecting our school values. In Art last term, Year 4 have been exploring how the way we present artwork can completely change how it is viewed and understood. We discussed how, when we create art for others to see, presentation really matters. This led us to investigate the role of the plinth in sculpture and how it can elevate, frame and even add meaning to a piece of work. Year 3 have finally finished their fantastic flying birds and we could not be prouder of them. They worked incredibly hard on this project last term and their perseverance has truly paid off. We began by carefully studying photographs of British garden birds, looking closely at colours, shapes and features. We have had a roaring start to the new term in Ducklings, as dinosaurs arrived in our classroom. The children were full of excitement and curiosity as they discovered all the prehistoric surprises waiting for them. Our little explorers became palaeontologists, carefully using brushes to uncover dinosaur bones in our excavation area. There was great concentration as they gently swept away to reveal their discoveries. In the creative area, the children made colourful handprints

We started our assembly with a quiet check-in, thinking about how we were feeling. Lots of us were a little tired as it is our first week back after half-term...mostly the teachers! As we chatted, the hall felt calm and still. So then, it was time to wake up and shake up! The music started, our bodies began moving, and soon we were dancing our hearts out, with some brilliant cheerleaders leading the way at the front.
