Last week our history lesson was all about mummification and what they used to do when a Pharoah died. We learnt all kinds of fairly gruesome things! But very interesting that they were treated with the utmost care and attention to detail. Some of their organs were stored in canopic jars and were placed in the tomb. There are four jars: Hapi protects the lungs, Imesty guards the liver, Duamatef protects the stomach and Qebehsenuf protects the intestines ready to enter the afterlife. We had great fun making our own canopic jars that will be with you shortly!
