Science Workshop
The children have been very fortunate to be visited by one of our wonderful parents, Lori Fischer, who is a biologist. She came in to speak to all of the children about bioplastics and even demonstrated how they can be produced from a natural substance... Starch, which can be extracted from potatoes or corn! She then allowed the children to have a go at making their own bioplastics by using corn starch. All the children were fascinated by the process! Thank you so much for vo

Bioplastics
Ducklings class had a super exciting science session with Victoria’s mum. We learned all about plastics and discovered that they are used in lots of everyday things. We talked about why plastics can be really useful because they are strong and can last a long time, but also why they can be harmful, especially to animals and our oceans, because they do not break down easily. Then came the fun part. We made our very own bioplastic. First, we mixed cornflour with water. Next, we

Confirmation 2026
This week we held our annual confirmation service. Ten of our pupils were confirmed and it was lovely to welcome Bishop Rise to lead the service. Confirmation is a special church service in which a person confirms the promises that were made for them when they were baptised. Bishop Rose laid her hands on their heads and asked God’s Holy Spirit to give them the strength and commitment to live God’s way for the rest of their life. The children sang beautifully and were brillian

Ducklings at Beach School
Ducklings had their very first Beach School session, and it’s safe to say it was a huge success! The children were incredibly sensible as we walked down to the sunny beach, demonstrating excellent behaviour and strong awareness of road safety along the way. Once we arrived, the children couldn’t wait to enjoy the wide, open space. They had a quick run across the sand, making the most of the freedom to move and explore in a safe, natural environment. This kind of active outdoo

Easter Service 2026
On the final day of term, our school community came together for a very special Easter service at St Eanswythe's Church. Over the past few weeks, the children have been busy preparing songs, poems, artwork and readings to help retell the Easter story. It was a truly collaborative celebration, with every class contributing something unique and meaningful. The service began with a joyful reflection on Palm Sunday, with Ducklings waving palm leaves and singing, setting the scene

St Eanswythe's Easter Bonnet Parade 2026
This week, the children of St Eanswythe’s took part in our much-loved Easter Bonnet Parade, bringing a wonderful splash of colour and creativity to our local community. After some careful crafting at home, the children arrived at school proudly with their spectacular Easter bonnets. Each one was unique, decorated with bright spring flowers, chicks, eggs and ribbons, a real celebration of the season! We then set off on a special parade around The Bayle and the churchyard of St

Year 3 British Museum visit
Last Thursday Year 3 went to the British Museum to take a better look at what life was like in Ancient Egyptian times. Even though it was very busy we did get to see everything in both rooms. It was extra special as we are currently reading The Ancient Egyptian Sleepover by Stephen Davies who has set this story in the actual museum itself and we were all guessing which parts of the room they slept in by recalling the story. There is also alot of reference to many of the artif

🌍 Rivers of the World - Owls Class Geography
Today in Owls Class, we became geographers as we explored the fascinating world of rivers! We began by learning that a river is like a long, winding road made of water. We discovered that every river has a source, where it begins high up in the mountains, and a mouth, where it ends in a sea, ocean or lake. The children quickly became confident using new geographical vocabulary. We also explored some of the world’s most famous rivers, including the Nile, the Amazon and the Riv
